I am always up for a good giveaway, but when I was contacted by Angie from the ever-so-successful-and-widely-read Creative Mama blog asking if I’d be so kind to give away a spot to her readers I jumped at the chance! So, this time there are *two* chances for you to win (and, boy don’t you wanna since it’s long gone sold-out)!
One here. One at Creative Mama. Angie’s giveaways start next week (July 6-17) where she is doing two weeks full of photography related topics, including interviews from the ever so fabulous Tara Whitney and Leah Zawadski.
My big giveaway starts today. Here are the details …
Last week I wrote this post encouraging everyone to take out their cameras and document the big and little things around for the sake of memories. I am terrible at it. I do it for a job so why would I want to take more photos only to have more editing to do, right?! But, what I’ve realized is that it’s not about creating perfect photos, it’s just about documenting the things around us that are worth preserving. So, this weekend I did just that. Instead of photos though, I took a few random videos … of Chili, the flower Corey picked for me (okay, so it really just broke off and he brought it in, but still … ), Corey celebrating USA’s goal over Brazil and a few more of Chili (I can’t help myself).
So, I’m encouraging you all to do the same…except photographs, not videos. Snap a photo of something … a favorite pillow, your attempt at growing flowers, the little something that makes your house yours, a piece of jewelry, a basketball, something funny your spouse does … whatever deserves to be remembered forever, but might be camera neglected. Snap it, upload it, send it. Nothing big, nothing fancy. And, don’t worry about what it looks like … your trying to win a spot to a photography workshop for crying out loud! Oh, and just like last time you are more than welcome to win a spot for someone else. If your photo gets chosen and you have no desire to learn about photography the workshop spot is yours to giveaway! So selfless you are …
Email your photo to jessica@503photography.com by midnight, Sunday July 5th. I will enlist help to pick a winner. Winners will be announced asap on Monday!
Now go! Snap away! Whatever deserves your camera’s attention. Upload it. Send it. Have it. Forever.
p.s. Make sure to check out this fabulous blog post, written by the girl who won the free spot in July’s workshop. I *love* how she made a notebook so she could stay organized. A girl after my own heart …
p.p.s. While we’re on the subject of photography … make sure to check out my blog for Photography Fridays where I interview other photographers and share bits about my own photos.
p.p.s.s. I never knew blog writing could leave a girl out of breath … whew!
p.p.s.s…..p. or s.? Here’s my entry to the contest (just to give you an example):

so is the life of a resident. always sacrificing life and sleep to help those in need. (and, no they do not do it for the money. impossible.) often times when i come up to bed Corey is no longer on his side of the bed….which if you think about it is no easy thing to do - to completely switch sides as if that was where you had always been. i always giggle and then roll his seemingly lifeless body back to his side of the bed. i snapped this photo to show him (he never before believed me that he does in fact do this). and, no he never has any recollection of me rolling him back to his side. poor guy.
How very cool! I’m on it!
Lovin this idea to get my creativity going!!! Now off to take that shot!
Thanks Jessica for linking up! How fabulous TWO opportunities to win - I definitely have to twitter about this. I love your image as well - how true it is, documenting the little and big things - what a gift!
Happy Monday
That’s funny! Maybe this is his way of being close to you even when you’re not in bed with him! Can’t believe he doesn’t wake up when you roll him over…..that’s some heavy sleeping!
I love this picture and the post that goes along with it. I have told this story to at least 5 people and everyone gets a kick of of it….so to say the least you have to know that you made people smile with your story!
hey…you blogged about me! and even linked up my blog. wow. i’m in awe. and couldn’t stop giggling when i saw that!
thanks so much.
its truly been such an awesome experience learning from you. i am recommending your workshop to everyone.
