Last New Year’s Eve my main squeeze was upstairs snoozing by 9:30 p.m. He had a long work day on New Year’s Day (too bad sick people don’t take vacation days, too) which left me ringing in the New Year all by my lonesome. Although you might assume I was sad sitting on our couch, blowing kisses into the air at 12:00 sharp I loved the ring “twenty-ten” had to it and felt in my heart of hearts that it was going to be a good year.

And, it was.

So, in honor of the ever so sweet and memorable 2010 I am offering a free spot to my February workshop (valued at $350). In the comment section tell me what’s the one thing you will remember most about 2010. A winner will be picked at random Thursday evening before the clock strikes midnight (EST).

Best of luck!

What I remember about 2010 is birth of my 2nd boy. I was thinking how in the world was I going to survive in a house with 2 little boys and it has been amazing!

  • Johanna Burleson

My sweet baby boy turned one! I couldn’t believe how fast year flew by.

Being stunned at how blessed my life is….it seems that the impossible is possible!

I will remember most about 2010 the small steps of trusting God I made. I realized I will be okay as long as I stay with him even when things don’t turn out like I hoped or expected.

I’ll never forget the moment we found out (Me, my hubby, my 2 boys, and my mom) that we were expecting our first little princess!! We are so excited to welcome a precious girl into our family. :)

What I will remember most about 2010 is the commitment and sacrifice. I left a full-time + career so that I could spend more time with my children and husband. It was the most unsettling but best decision I ever made. Goodbye extended hour daycare and nightshifts. Hello picnics in the sunshine with three adorable boys. I am blessed with a terrific family and now can appreciate what really matters. Cheers to 2011!

The one thing I will remember the most about 2010 is the wonderful vacation I got to spend with my husband of 10 years. We spent a week in Hawaii, just the two of us, our 3 kids being taken care of by their loving Grandparents at home. I’ve been with my husband since I was 15 and I love him more today than ever.

My last baby turning one. sniff, sniff. ;)

  • Sherry Benson

I have so many great memories from this year, but the best would have to be watching my little ones grow and play. My daughter was born last December and my son just turned four. He’s been a great big brother to our baby girl and her first year was awesome.

  • Beth Ryan

What I will remember most about 2010 is that although extremely difficult financially, I was able to take a whole 9 WEEKS off to spend with my brand new baby girl and her big brother. My hubby is a teacher and gets spring break, summer break, thanksgiving break and Christmas break off to spend and make memories with our children and I always get jealous. This jealousy makes me strive even harder to make those same memories as often as I can. Because this was my second opportunity to take maternity leave and the labor with my daughter was “cake” (not so with my son) I was able to make the most of EVERY minute I had off, made tons of memories, took tons of pictures, spent time with family and gave a little love to some of my friendships that have had to take a back seat for a while. It was truly the most amazing 9 weeks of my life…sleep deprivation and all! :) I wish I had those 9 weeks every year!

  • Joni Kay Price

We had a lot of great memories this year…moving into a new house, watching my little ones find their own personalities, birthdays, and trips with family..the most memorable would be time with family! I always end up being the photographer at these events (beach, ball games, cousin visits) and it would be nice have a little help in my picture taking capabilities.

I think 2010 was the year I was re-energized to pick up my camera again, spurred on by the birth of the family’s first grandchild.

I remember thinking to myself, “This is the year. The year that I will no longer be a slave to the job I don’t even love. The year I will finally do what I have wanted to do my entire life!!” And I did!! Instead of letting my shortcomings get me down, I have seen the brighter side of things. I am happier than ever and can’t wait to make my business even more successful in 2011!

  • Jennifer Eickelberger

I remember all the funny and witty little things my 3 yr old comes up with, the best was one day when i actually tried to make her put pants or tights on under her dress to go out into the cold and she replied with, “but mom, princesses don’t wear pants!!!!”

  • Janelle

I’ll remember 2010 as a year of profound gratitude for my family’s good health. After watching my daughter experience a gut-wrenching serious illness, I’ll never take the well-being of any family members & friends for granted.

The most memorable part of 2010 was finally buying a house after moving every year for the last 6. My husband also left for his 3rd deployment, and will be coming home shortly into 2011. My 2 little girls and I will be so happy to have him home!

  • Stacey B

What I will remember most about 2010 is finding out that you are never too old to become an athlete. I started taking a kickboxing class and as funny as this sounds the girl who always got hit in the head with the ball in gym class (volleyball, basketball any ball!) fell in love with working out!!!

I think the thing i will remember about 2010 forever is that this is the year i came to life. This was the year i realized that i didn’t need to be a slave to THINGS and turned to minimalism. This is the year that i became content with the little things in life like just being able to listen to my child breath in and out on my chest. This is the year that i didn’t need more than the love my husband could give me. He didn’t need to be a Millionaire and i didn’t need bigger and better. This would be the year that the word simple meant more to me than just easy. Just being was fabulous. Bigger is not better and more is not really more. Time is short and life is even shorter. Love is more and faith is deep. 2010 was my year of true life love and happiness. I can only imagine what 2011 hold for me. I am hoping to continue this photographic dream of mine and make it what i see in my minds eye. Thank you for this great opportunity!

Hi Jessica – I loved participating in your workshop in Nov/Dec of last year so would like to enter this contest on behalf of my best friend who is also an avid photographer. What I’ll remember most about 2010? The birth of my son AND hearing the news that my best friend is expecting a baby next year!

  • Annika

2010 brought so much to my life… but the most memorable thing it brought was my second son Wiley. I can’t remember a time there wasn’t a him! I am a happy mom of two beautiful boys and I have a third boy in a huz that I would love the opportunity to capture via photographs in 2011. Your workshop would be a beautiful kick off to the year!
    xoxo

This year I will remember the passing of our Great Aunt. Without any children of her own, she was like a grandmother to all of us. When we visited her home after she was gone – it was so special to see the photos of my kids spread throughout her home. I am so thankful that I had taken the time to make her prints. I only wish I would have taken more photos of her. I would love to participate in this workshop!

What I will remember most of 2010 is our 2nd child starting kindergarten and our 11 year old learning to play the violin.

  • http://www.nicholsfamilytree.blogspot.com Lindsey

The birth of my little girl Anabelle. And surviving 2 children under 2! Happy new year!

  • Courtney

My 12 yr old son getting MUCH better grades in school!
That and not taking life for granted. I almost lost my father last New Years to a hypertensive emergency and stroke… what a whirlwind of a year it’s been with that!

The “thing” I will most take with me from 2010 is a deep-rooted understanding in my faith being found in WHO God is not What God does. He was, is, and will continue to be faithful no matter what He allows to come into my life. Whether it was the sick baby boy with scary possibly diagnoses flying around in February, the incredible week at Hilton Head Island with my extended family in April, 6 weeks by alone with my baby trying to show and pack our house while my husband started his new job across the country in May, actually moving and uprooting and leaving all our friends, our first beloved home, and the church that had become like family in June, finding out we are expecting another baby and seeing it wiggle and dance away on the screen for the very first time in October, watching snow fall in Ohio for days on end after 4.5 years in Florida for all of December ;) , or even simple things like folding laundry, going to the grocery store, reading stacks of books with my boy, or making a Friday night ice cream dessert tradition with my husband. God was with me in each of those times, He was faithful at every turn, and trusting in HIM not what He does is the bottom line.

2010 … A significant wedding anniversary with an amazing husband … Learning the new rhythm of our hearts and home when our oldest went off to college 13 hours away … Redesigning my photo business to fit my life instead of my life fitting my business … Drawing even closer to my parents & brothers after seeing my Dad come from being intubated in an ambulance, ICU & breathing life support, 21 days of December in the hospital, but HOME on Christmas Eve!

This year was filled with so many blessings and happy memories . . . but it will always be known as the year that my dear Father-in-Law passed away. As the patriarch of an enormous family (9 kids, plus spouses, and 2 dozen grandkids) his loss was huge to this family. While 2010 was a year of adjustment to a new reality, it made us all realize how blessed we are to be surrounded by an amazing web of loved ones.

I will remember how my baby girl started preschool- she’s growing too fast!

So many things stand out about this pastyear! Finally quitting my full time job to be a mom and pursue my other passions! My baby turning 2! Finding out we were pregnant with number 2!

Winning this would be a dream come true!
Like you, my favorite part of 2010 was welcoming my first daughter into the world! She’s currently sleeping and squeaking in her bouncy chair and I think it’s the most wonderful thing in the world!! :D

What I’ll remember most in 2010 is how far I have come with my business. Just 6 months ago I never even thought I could seriously make a job out of photography, let alone be where I am. I know I have a lot of work to do in 2011 and a lot to learn, but I am so amazed out how far I have come because of support from friends, family, other awesome photogs, etc. etc. I can’t wait to learn more and gain new experiences in 2011!

What will I remember about 2010? It’s the year I became truly grateful. It’s the year I woke up and wanted nothing but to hold my children & love my husband. I’ve spent years hoping and dreaming for things in my life to be better, to have more & spend more. I need & want nothing but my family & health……… and maybe a free photography class :)

  • JANELLE

…the most memorable moment in 2010 is being incredibly blessed that my son survived a serious, head-on collision without any life-threatening or life-alterning injuries. Angels were watching over him.

  • Natalie Barbera

I will remember most the email from my doctor while I was enjoying a yogurt break with some great girlfriends telling me that my scans were clear. After being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer two and a half years ago, I was never sure I would see my daughter grow up or be able to spend more time with my wonderful husband. My prayers for 2011 would be that people understand just how precious life is and that every moment is a gift.

the thing i will remember most is finally deciding to take a chance and having that third baby…i was always so scared mostly because i wanted this baby to be a girl so bad (i have two boys) and i was afraid of having another boy.

well, we’re having another boy, but i am so happy. this is meant to be…and boys love their mamas, right?

I have a lot of favorite moments from 2010 (I got engaged!) but going on a safari and hot air ballon ride in Kenya was the experience of a lifetime.

The memory I cherish most from 2010 was nothing truly amazing, but it’s by far my favorite. I was playing with my two daughters, when my 4 year old came up to me and said, “I love you mama!” and gave me a big smooch. Then my 18 month followed with, “Bee boo mama!” and wrapped her little arms around me. For me, there’s nothing better. :-)

  • Tonya Worley

I think my favorite memory from 2010 is both exciting and sad for me. My oldest son went to work on our farm this Summer. He was driving a tractor by himself for the first time. I was so proud of him and the man he is becoming, but at the same time I was sad he was no longer my little boy anymore. They grow up entirely to fast and makes me want to cherish each and every moment I have with them.

  • Kim Benesh

Most memorable was my daughter starting kindergarten, having my first “paid” jobs for photography and just being truly blessed with a wonderful base of family and friends.
