Capturing Your Kids’ Lives. Really.

Posted in Families on January 04, 2008

I am not against studios. I’m really not. I actually wouldn’t mind one day having a really cool loft studio in the downtown of whatever city we’re living in. I love the studio work of Classic Kids and Audrey Woulard. I will say though that there’s nothing quite like capturing your kids in their most natural setting: at home. I feel like it’s here kids feel the freedom to be themselves. Case in point: The following kids I took pictures of in their home. The little girl was cracking me up because she’d look at me so seriously and I’d snap a picture capturing her beautiful face…then it’s like the kid inside of her would just pop out. Look at this series of pictures I captured below to see what I’m talking about.

Isn’t she so cute?! Here are some more of her and her adorable little brother.

In order to capture kids’ eyes, I often tell them to look inside the lens and see if they can see my eyeball. Fellow photographers, you really can get quite a ways with this tactic. This was the most intent look though that I’ve ever gotten! :) He was really searching for it.
