Last fall while on a weekend away with my girlfriends one of the girls shared with us her experience on trying to get on HGTV. During their home visit (unfortunately their home was not chosen) she found out that they were also looking for Cincinnati families. She snagged a card and passed it along to [...]

EIGHT weekends off (woo-hoo!)
I rarely talk about my husband on here. Part of that is because I’m pretty sure it embarrasses the heck out of him (like this post which totally did and at the time I think I had like 12 readers (which was probably my mom and sister checking in six times each)), the other part [...]
This I cling to: God never wastes a wound.
Last Wednesday night I went to our church for their Last Wednesday service (worship, communion, etc). During the first song, we were all standing and I noticed this couple just a few seats down from me to my left. I instantly recognized their posture. It was his hold, her hand tucked in his, his solemnness [...]
Charley and her cousin, Finley.
My niece (my sister’s daughter), Finley, was six when Charley was born. My sister and her family live in California, but were in town when we came home with Charley last summer. It was a really big deal to Finley and she has always looooooved Charley. Like loves-loves her. And, of course I adore that [...]
just over a year ago …
Charley en-utero. And, today … Charley turned 1 on Friday! ONE year and suddenly we are here. This past year has been so stinkin’ joy-filled my head has not been able to make sense of it all. I crawled in bed late Thursday night and planned to write up a “this is why there will [...]
I have this folder ..
.. that lives on my desktop. It’s called “to print.” When a picture I’ve taken (good or bad) jumps out at me I add it to the folder. Then, when I have a good group I send them off to print. Once they’re in I bee-bop around the house and update the frames. Some simply [...]

Buying a rug is not what it used to be.
Today I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy a new bath rug. I had two I had bought previously that I was returning and one that HGTV bought us that I wanted to match. Three bath rugs, one 20+ pound baby and a diaper bag all in my arms. I walked in, grabbed [...]
Stuck in the middle of a desert next to an oasis.
Woh. Life in the form of this house has officially kicked me in the arse and all but made May go by in a flash. HGTV was here exactly three weeks ago, the basement waterproofing done a month ago and I am JUST NOW starting to feel normal again. You see my house is my [...]
The best I can do.
The basement is officially waterproofed. The company was fantastic, so nice, so friendly, so respectful. Our foundation was thicker than normal. They had to jackhammer for twice as long. Dust went everywhere. Through the vents, coating our entire house in a fine layer of cement dust. It sucked and I did the ugly cry. I [...]
