Danna made this photo …

Posted in Misc on June 10, 2010

danna11… and, posted it for her week 1 homework. I don’t normally showcase student’s homework. My workshop is much more about learning the technical stuff than it is about winning photography contests with homework photos. But, this photograph stopped me in my tracks. For quite some time. It reminded me of this quote :

A photograph is memory in the raw.  ~Carrie Latet

Her sweet daughter’s face has already changed since this photo was taken. But, the way it looked on this particular day will be captured forever. It’s the perfect example of a simple portrait done right. Don’t you all agree that she is the most beautiful little girl ever? There’s just something so perfect about her exact makeup. I love it.

Wow, great photo! Do you know when you’ll announce your next adult online workshop? I’m so excited, I think I can do the next one!

Wow, I am so flattered by your comments Jessica - not just about the photo but about my daughter. We think she is pretty perfect too! What I find so cool about photographing both of my girls is that photos almost always show you something you don’t necessarily appreciate with your eye. For example in this photo, even though this is her 9 yeard old face, you can somehow get a glimpse what her 19 year old face will look like - it’s like a sneak preview.

I just love seeing the work of your former students! It just amazes me how much you’ve taught all of us and how much we’ve grown by taking your workshop. Thank you so much for offering it and for giving your time, energy, and love to it and to us:)
