Music has been my best friend through many stages of my life. Honestly, I cannot imagine life without it. I remember my dear friend in college saying that she’d give up every one of her senses before she’d give up her hearing. Music was her lifeline. Due to her influence on my life (yes you, sp) it has more and more with each passing day become mine as well. I can hear certain songs …
Southbound Train [Nanci Griffith] … Cowboy Take Me Away [Dixie Chicks] … Nothingman [Pearl Jam] … Round Here [Counting Crows] … Learning to Live Again [Garth Brooks] … Fast Car [Tracy Chapman] … Nobody Loves Me [Lyle Lovett] … Samson [Regina Spektor] …
…and immediately I’m taken back to that place. The place where I found healing, escape, motivation, clarity or whatever it might have been in that moment … hour … week and sometimes, oftentimes season. I have quite an obsession with finding a song or specific artist’s c.d. and listening to it on repeat. Over and over and over. It’s a bit odd, I know and drives my husband crazy, but it’s just how I do things. I guess it provides some strange sense of stability. Answers in the midst maybe?
Winter of ‘07-’08 Amy Seeley was that artist for me. I listened to her music over and over and over. It helped me sit in the place I was living in at the moment. I considered using a song of hers for my website, but then felt like I was being asked to share my best friend with others and I wasn’t sure I was ready to do that. But, today I saw this video on Boho Girl’s blog and it made me love Amy all the more. I think it’s time for me to realize she’s not singing just for me. ; ) Today, I paid a visit to iTunes and purchased her new c.d., Eight Belles. You should do the same. It does not disappoint.

This week my days are filled with the joy of these wonderful two. If the stars align as we hope there will be loads of photos to share of them in the weeks to come.

I totally agree about music….don’t know where I’d be without it. Love, love, love pandora.com at work. Thank you for the video about Amy Seeley…I’ve not heard of her, but will check her out! Have a good day…
