You know how all fashion statements always have their stage of new and risque to mainstream to out of style to “remember when we used to wear that?!?!” to new and risque to mainstream to …
I think back on so many things I wore in the 80’s and although the 90’s had me hiding old photos left and right now I look around and they’re all making their way back. I mean I even tried on a pair of baggy boyfriend jeans at American Eagle the other day and found myself tight rolling the bottoms. Maybe I won’t wear them this time with tube socks and tennis shoes, but nevertheless I would wear them out in public and feel cool, hip and trendy.
It’s the same with my Member’s Only jacket. Remember those? It was what everyone wore so I of course had to have one, too. I wore it so much it was worn out and old and when I quite wearing it I was more than happy to get rid of it. So, why now has it jumped back in my memory and struck a chord in my heart that has left me missing it? I have no clue. All I know is that I have been left Googling for it and I found it. They might be “so in style 3 years ago for you California and NYC people”, but for us here in the Midwest we’re not that trendy. We’re behind with the times you might say. So, although I haven’t seen them around (yes, I know it’s in the dead of summer) I’ve decided to start sporting one again. Maybe, just maybe … I … Jessica Cudzilo … the one with the vanilla style … will start a new trend. I just might be the tipping point. (I ordered the pink one … it was the only color they had left, but I like pink. I think I’ll wear it with a mini, flippies, hair in a pony, pearls and a sassy attitude.)
Here’s to the 80’s and all the things we loved about it … including tight rolled jeans, Members Only jackets and of course, Michael Jackson.
I expect to see pictures of this oh-so-trendy outfit, once it cools down enough to actually sport it!
