The Details:
What: It’s a monthly contest. On the 1st of every month a challenge will be presented. From there you will go out and shoot your best interpretation of that one word, short phrase, quote, etc.
When: Challenges will be presented on the 1st of every month. Photos are due by the 15th of every month.
Who: Former 503 students AND wannabe 503 students. The favorite 4 photos from former students will be selected and will be posted to this blog for the public to choose their favorite. Wannabe future students can also participate. Out of all the entries emailed in we will select our #1 favorite and will also add it to the blog to be voted on. If the “wannabes” photo is chosen you will automatically win a free spot in a future workshop! For past students, if yours is chosen you will win … (see “Why” section).
How: Former 503 students, please upload your photo sized 650 pixels in width to the forum (under category: “Monthly Challenges”) by the 15th of every month. Wannabe students, please email us your photo (sized 650 pixels in width) to contests@503photography.com by the 15th of every month.
Why: We want to give you all a good reason to keep shooting and motivation to keep stretching your creative wings. We also want to give you a chance to win free stuff! If you are a wannabe 503 student and your photo is chosen you will automatically win a free spot in a future workshop. If you are a former student and your photo is chosen you will get to choose from one of our fabulous vendors:
- $50 gift card to Flora Bella Actions
- 1 year subscription to Clickin’ Moms
- $50 gift card to SP Design’s templates
- $50 gift card to Nichole Van’s actions
..If you would like to offer a product for our 503 winners to have the option of choosing, please email us at contests@503photography.com.
FAQ:
Can I send my photo entry in early?
Absotivalutely! Photo entries are accepted any time between the 1st & 15th.
When will photos be posted to the 503 blog?
A few days after the 15th (depending on what day of the week it is). The top 5 photos will be posted and then we’ll leave them up for a few days for the public to vote for their favorite.
How will I know if my photo is the winner?
We’ll announce you as the winner right here on the blog!
What if I’m the non-student winner and I don’t want/need your workshop?
No hard feelings. You’re welcome to choose from any of the other prize options.

yay! sounds like fun! I’ve been doing the Team Up Thursday Challenge and have had so much fun. It has been challenging to find something out of the ordinary! Looking forward to it.

I just L-O-V-E it! I am excited about the monthly contest. I’m am ashamed to admit that it was just about a year ago that my camera was switched to automatic (and it is here she stayed). I could give you a laundry list of excuses why… or I could just reread my workshop notes and have some fun!! Thanks for getting me excited about photography all over again.
