Photography Friday

Give your subjects something to do!

harris-63-copy

Something I love to do is to give my subjects something to do. For instance, with the above photo I told the girls that on the count of three I want you to hug Alison (the one in the middle) as hard as you can. One … two … THREE! Then I shoot, shoot, shoot and the result is photos such as this where true emotion is captured and my subjects are given something to do which keeps them from looking/feeling awkward.

This works great with kids, too!

This is my niece and mom. “Hey Finley! Give Nana a wet willie!”

Happy Friday!  :  )

Jessica you’re awesome! I love the second one, that’s an everyday occurrence in our home (wet willies!) and such a fun capture.

What a great tip Jessica! I like how it’s a nice way to direct your subjects while still letting them be true to themselves.
