I thought for today’s installment of Photography Friday I’d post some photos. I know, I’m a genius.
This lovely bride-to-be has known my husband a lot longer than she has known me. So, when we finally officially met a few years ago I remember just staring at her in awe. I thought she was so gorgeous. And, I mean all sorts of people in my life are gorgeous, but there’s something about Lara - something different - that just had me staring. Yea, creepy, I know. The thing with me is that I think 90% of stuff in my head without verbalizing any of it. So, when I’m thinking about how I like someone’s dress I’ll think about why, wonder where she bought it, wonder if it’d look good on me … I’ll never think to actually tell her that I like her dress. But, that night with Lara I remember I just couldn’t stand it.
“Lara, I think you’re gorgeous. Will you marry me?” Okay, so I didn’t say the marry me part, but I was considering.
Aaaallll that to say, I was thrilled to snap a few engagement shots of Lara and her hubs-to-be. He was a bit leery - worried that I’d make them pose awkwardly and then stare into each other’s eyes. Pah-lease. I am so not that photographer (at least not most of the times).
All shots were taken with my 35mm 1.4 - my favorite lens to use. No flash, all natural light. Canon 5d Mark II.

Hubby and I did not do engagnement pics. I always thought they were SO cheesy. But after seeing these I wish we had! Oh my Gawd they are GEORGOUS!!!
These make me smile.
The angles that you think of just blow me away. I still need to work at this. So proud to say you’ve been a teacher of mine because you ROCK
First of all, you are hilarious! I love this post because I totally can relate. Second, these pictures are aaaammmaaazing!! I’m so excited for tomorrow, can’t wait to meet you!
Jessica these are such a treasure. And your are right she is beautiful. Thanks for pointing out that you used your 35mm 1.4 because I just looked that up the other day and it looks like a great lens. I think I would actually like it better than a 50mm. Sometimes a 50mm just seems to close on a crop sensor. I love the one of them under the train…are you kidding me!
okay girl, these shots rock! totally love how natural they are and how full of love this couple is. love the ones of them laying under the truck (??).
fabulous job as usual!
You’re right, she is beautiful!! What great pictures. They looked like they were having sooo much fun!!
UNbelievable!!! i mean, not that i would have expected anything less. but, you really are a ROCK star!! love you!!
I have worked in the business of semi-trailer repair for 20 years now and it amazes me that you can use them as props in your photos and it looks totally awesome! Trust me, I know how utterly ugly & dirty some of them…most of them are and you make them look like dreamy. Granted, the true subjects are what make the photos but still, awesome shoot!!!
