Photography Friday ~ Critique Me {Week 9}

Posted in Critique Me, Fridays on July 29, 2011

I’ve decided to just embrace the fact that I’m insanely long-winded. For those short on time you may have to watch this in shifts. ; )

(or link to video here.)

Have a fun weekend!

    Thanks for doing these critiques. I find them really helpful. I learn something new every time you do these and then I try (hard) to put your suggestions into practice.

    Thank you for doing this again…and picking a picture of mine!! Was very helpful and all your tips and critiques were very useful!

    You’re welcome. :)

    Love it!  Your voice is too fun…always brings a fresh perspective when one is used to reading your words vs. hearing them. ;)  HA!  Great tips on photo coaching, or whatever term you might use, for the first photo.  I am awful at it and more or less like to just capture what I see without injecting myself.  Of course, I am just a hobby-ist, so this makes sense for me, as opposed to someone who is being paid to photograph a person or event, but I hope to some day be better at guiding my subjects, whether they are family or friends.  Might have to submit a photo sometime for fun… =)

    I am really digging your CritiqueMe posts. I find them helpful. Specifically, I appreciated the suggestions you added with the first photo for getting the look/feel/interaction that we want from subjects. Also, I’m excited to try the Healing Brush in PS–I usually use the patch tool and it isn’t always ideal. Thanks! (and not too long winded!)

    I’m going to be guest writing over at MCP Actions coming up in August and I’m going to be teaching about how I get expressions in my pictures by giving my subjects something to do. It makes everyone’s jobs so much easier! I’ll make sure to post it here when my post is live over there. :)

    For some families I don’t have to give them a lick of guidance. They just do their thing and I more or less act like the paparazzi chasing everyone around. I’ve found though that 90% of my subjects/families long for and love a bit of guidance and as a photographer I prefer it that way. Not only do we get genuine photographs we also can complete our session faster which is always a good thing when you have little ones.

    And, please submit a photo! :)

    Thanks so much Jess!  I learned a lot (as always) and I appreciate your positive comments on my image.  I love your videos a ton! :)
