So, I had this great idea to dedicate Fridays to the wonderful world of photography. My initial thinking was to interview a fellow photographer the first Friday of the month and then share something from little ol’ me the next three. The only problem with that … after week one … was that I realized it was much too difficult. I didn’t quite know where to start and, to be honest, I didn’t want to work myself out of a job. Yet Photography Fridays still have me giddy at the thought of them because having the opportunity to interview other photographers I so admire just seems so right to me.
{Month 1. Month 2. Month 3 has me losing sleep at night out of sheer happiness …}
So, I stuck my head in the sand and flaked out. I then had lunch with a wonderful person and she said just a few words that changed everything for me.
“Why don’t you just share one photo and then tell us your thought process. Share the details from that photo and maybe your thoughts on editing.”
And, there it was. A “problem” so easily solved. [Thank you, Cyndi] So brilliant. And, easy. And, something I’d LOVE to do.
So, here we are … week one.

I thought this would be a good photo to start with because I have gotten so many questions about it.
For this shot I laid down flat on the ground and had them walk over me – with me in the middle. They walked pretty quickly so I had to check after to make sure I had gotten their hands in focus and I had. I will say that it was not my directing of how they held hands, but because of the way they did you can see Jessica’s engagement ring which I think only lends to the strength of this photo.
I exposed the shot for their hands, but when editing I lightened up their hands a bit and darkened the sky a bit to give the photo that rich, colorful contrast.

Happy Friday!
