Photography … Monday!

Friday was my birthday and although I’d love to say that I was partying it up … eating a diet of chocolate and red wine, I really had a rather uneventful day … working and shooting. The night most definitely got better as C’s resident class successfully planned and pulled off our 2nd annual camping trip! But, in the midst of all of that a beloved of mine got left behind … Photography Friday.

Honestly, I thought it was no biggie, but then upon checking my stat counter I was astonished at how many visitors I had Friday. Was it b/c so many of you are getting in the habit of checking in for your weekly photography tip? If so, I will not let you down again (okay, I’ll totally let you down numerous times, but isn’t a birthday a pretty good excuse??)

For most of us when we meet with clients and their kids we are brand new to them. Top that off with a giant black thing stuck to our face it can be quite intimidating. Getting in good with the kids is SO important! I always focus more on the kids then I do on the parents ….

“Wanna go exploring!?” “Wanna play a game?!” “What’s your favorite sport to play?!”

Whatever it might be I talk and talk and work hard to loosen them up. With the shot above I was asking her all about her trip to Disney World. She was SUPER excited about it as you can imagine so I told her to yell at the top of her lungs, “DISNEEEEY WOOOOOORLD!!!” for all to hear. Then, I snapped away.

And, again …. “DISNEEEEEEY WOOOOOOOOORLD!!!”
