While in Memphis last week I swung by my old place of work to snap some new staff photos. Nothing fancy – all I had to do was focus in the right place, snap, crop, turn into high-contrast b&w’s (oh and remove blemishes, wrinkles, double chins….I’m totally kidding…maybe).
Well, nonetheless, here they are: http://www.highpointmemphis.com/staff
Things I love: Highpoint Church and all her imperfections, imperfect people, our perfect God who loves us messy and screwed up and selfish and stubborn and arrogant and well, just downright ugly most of the time, people who serve on church staff (let’s be honest, it’s the hardest damn (is it tacky to put damn in a post where I’m writing about church? someone once told me, you get one good “damn” a day, so I’ll take mine here.) job out there, oh, and most don’t pay all that much), people who are passionate, people who don’t let down just because someone else doesn’t believe in their idea, people who fight for no good reason except for their own insecurities (yes, I even love you and I think you know who you are.), life change, videos that end with, “My name is (insert name here) and I AM Highpoint”, people who don’t mind working the hardest, behind the scenes, where recognition is almost non-existent, people who love people – even the annoying, unattractive, less-likable ones, worship pastors who unashamedly care more about their hair then their wife does, people who can always see the potential in others and aren’t afraid to tell them what it is, people who believe that to bore a kid is a sin and therefore make Sunday church an experience that knocks most kids’ socks off (parents, too), and overall – people who aren’t afraid to be different, radical, real, imperfect, bone-headed, passionate, honest, and okay with representing the church as imperfect people with perfected souls. Oh, and most of all – Tennessee sports (Go Vols!).
