we needed a weekend away

Posted in Ramblings on June 01, 2009

so we planned one. camping. now, the thing with camping is that it takes you much longer to prepare to be away from all aspects of civilization than you spend actually using everything packed in your SUV, but still … i love camping. being in the great outdoors with nothing to do, but hike and read and sleep and eat smores. the day was perfect and we did all the aforementioned things and also found time to coast into a little town and eat a little ice cream (yes, my new-no-sugar diet was put on hold).

Our day looked like this:

and, our night … well, let’s just say that our lovely day turned into a bit of lovely lightening. we decided that we love to camp, but we do not like lightening. or leaky tents.

(forgive my voice – i’ve been sick for close to a week now. what you cannot see is just how soaked to the bone we were. chili – which you could not see at all during any part of the video was mimicking someone who has rigor mortis. we just about had to carry her to the car. poor thing is a bit scared of loud noises and the thunder and lightening were not doing her any favors. us either.)

we drove home through a fireworks show of lightening. it was really quite spectacular. in a car. not in a tent. we were bummed to wake up this morning in our own beds, but we were not bummed sleeping in it.

hope your weekend was as adventurous as ours!

xoxo,

jc

My favorite thing about camping is being in a condo at the beach looking at your pictures of camping! xoxo

Jess – y’all are too funny! Wish we could have been there attempting to brave it out with you! Although, I have *never* been camping in my life. Seriously, that video is why! : ) I second the above post although I am not at the beach but that’s more of my style of camping. Love you guys!

The last 2 times I’ve been camping it poured on us…somehow it always rains when you don’t want it to:0 Sounds like fun though! I can’t imagine how scared Chili was…poor thing! She hides at the sound of the vacuum, I can’t imagine thunder and lightening.
