WPPI:
This year compared to last year was quite different. It was more like a vacation then a photography workshop. And, I’m okay with that, but I do wish that it could have been both. The only problem was that I arrived super tired and did not sleep much at all while there (none of us did). I haven’t been that tired since Charley was first born! Nevertheless, we had fun just enjoying a few days being responsible for only ourselves, eating good food (specifically some really delicious sushi) and enjoying an afternoon seeing the beeeee-autiful Sierra Nevadas!
We went to see Jesh speak again and still adore him. We also forced ourselves to get up and go to Jerry Ghionis’ 8 a.m. workshop and were so glad we did. He is hilarious and had me fully tuned-in and entertained for the 2+ hours.
Charley:
Corey went to NYC with some friends for a long-weekend vacation so my mother-in-law came up to stay with Charley. They had a great time together until Charley woke up with a 103 degree temp on Tuesday. Sad, sad baby.
A week later her temperature has finally gone, but her cold is still hanging around. I am so ready for some warmer weather and less time indoors!
Sometimes I feel guilty that I don’t spend more time on my business. In my previous life I spent at least 40 hours a week maintaining, dreaming and building. Nowadays I feel as if I only have time to maintain. I have to often (as in daily) remind myself that I will never regret spending more time building into my child and being the best mom to her I can be. It doesn’t mean I don’t still yearn to grow my business and spend more time on it (afterall, I do loooooove my job!), but being a mom is a role I’ve longed for for a long time and it truly is the most fulfilling role I’ve ever been given.
I really, really, really, as in high-fived-my-iPhone-really loved this post Ashley wrote over at her fab blog, Under the Sycamore. If you’re a mom I think you’ll enjoy it, too.
Good Food:
Today is day 1 of a 30 day “we’re gonna eat good and feel good about ourselves for doing so” diet plan Corey and I have started. It’s nothing too fancy, just a whole lotta clean eating …. organic meats, fruits and veggies, delicious smoothies, raw nuts, sprouted grains, less dairy and way less wheat and sugar (although I am gonna still indulge on some yummy wine and dark chocolate most nights). This morning I made the both of us this smoothie:
Isabel’s Green Machine
Makes 4 cups
1 cup filtered water or coconut water
1/2 – 3/4 box of organic baby spinach (or 1/2 – 3/4 lb)
2-3 leaves of kale (stems removed)
1/2 inch slice of organic lemon (peel, pith, and all)
1 ripe banana
Large handful of strawberries (about 6 large ones)
1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries
1/2 avocado (optional)
1 TBSP apple cider vinegar
I sort of felt like I was drinking spinach, Corey felt like he was drinking an under-ripe banana. I’m sure the more days we go with less sugar in our diet the more our taste buds will appreciate the foods that really are tasty and delicious.
Wish us luck ‘cuz we’re gonna need it!!!
