Thankful to know you.

Dearest little one,

Thank you for reminding me how to react when a guest has entered my home. Thank you for reminding me that it’s okay to have a style all my own. Thank you for reminding me to take pride in being able to do things aaaalllll by myself. Thank you for reminding me what it looks like when I do need just a bit of help after all. Thank you for reminding me what it looks like to live joyfully, passion overflowing with every breath. Thank you for playing with me, even being willing to do a few things you weren’t so sure about. Thank you for being goofy, telling me about your upcoming trip to DIIIIIISNEEEEEEEEY and for being such a good friend to Don (the cow). You are a child that reminds me the simplest, yet most important things in life. And, for that I am thankful to know you.

Dear Jess –
Thank you for taking me out for fun day of play time, all by myself. (Cuz I’m really just getting used to this sharing the spotlight, thing.) Thank you for letting me run around and be wild and nuts, totally myself. Thank you for letting me bring Don along just because I love him, even though he is a bright yellow cow in the middle of your pictures. Thank you for all the fun balloons, and for a fun lunch and even ice cream! Thank you for taking these beeeee-autiful pictures of me so that I can always remember our fun day, and for capturing me just as I am… nothing contrived, no pretense whatsoever. ‘Cuz that is what I’ll want to remember about myself at this age. Thank you for how you love me. (And my parents!) I think you are the coolest.
